As a basic raw material for alumina, refractories, high-aluminum cement, and related chemical products, bauxite has a market volume of around 10 million tons/year, and the amount of imported bauxite is also increasing year by year. The current import volume has reached 100. More than 10,000 tons/year, two domestic companies plan to invest in the construction of alumina plants using imported ore, and the demand for bauxite is more than 2 million tons/year. Each use unit and supplier conducts production and pricing based on chemical composition test results. The accuracy of test results is directly related to the interests of both parties.
At present, there are no applicable bauxite standards in China.
The foreign bauxite standard samples are all type of bauxite-type bauxite, which is not suitable for domestic bauxite detection.
This project was applied by Chinalco Shandong Branch and approved by China National Non-ferrous Metal Industry Standard Measurement and Quality Research Institute and approved by the National Standardization Administration.
The source of raw material of the bauxite standard sample developed in this project covers the main type of bauxite in China. The content of the standard sample covers the content of domestic and foreign bauxite in the market. There are three samples of this set of standard samples. There are 13 sample components, all chemical components.
Samples are milled under specific conditions using a special ball mill to avoid agglomerating into fine particles (<5u) and ensure sample homogeneity.
This set of standards is coordinated by nine domestic manufacturers and research institutes. Data processing is strictly completed in accordance with relevant standards.
In the initial stage of development, three similar samples with standard sample components were ground with a grinder and 8 components were determined for stability verification. After nearly two years of testing, it was proved that the sample had good stability.
This set of standards satisfies the needs of bauxite-related industries for bauxite standard samples, fills domestic gaps and reaches international standards. Since its release, it has been used in more than a dozen domestic units and it has consistently reflected that the samples are uniform and accurate in value.
