Heat-resistant polyethylene pipeline system will be issued by the national standard

From March 1, national standards for hot and cold water-resistant polyethylene (PE-RT) piping systems will be formally implemented. Compared with the original industry standards, the new PE-RT national standard has greatly improved certain indicators of the product and will play a role in promoting the development of the industry.

Wang Zhanjie, secretary general of the Plastic Pipeline Professional Committee of the China Plastics Processing Industry Association, told the reporter that when the national standard for PE-RT was formulated, it referred to the international standards such as ISO-compliant hot and cold water polyethylene (PE-RT) piping systems and Austrian national standards. The relevant part, taking into account domestic production actual conditions and technical capabilities, has certain advancement. The implementation of the new standard has a positive effect on the quality requirements and healthy development of the industry.

It is reported that in recent years, the application of PE-RT pipelines in China has developed rapidly in the field of cold and hot water pipes in buildings, and raw materials have also undergone further development. In 2002, the industry standard "PE-RT piping system for hot and cold water" was released, but because of the industry standard at that time, the reference was made to the German standard "PE-RT" piping - general quality requirements. And "PE-RT Pipes - Dimensions", both of which are based on the performance specifications of type I PE-RT materials. With the development of materials, the performance index of Type II PE-RT material is much higher than that of the first generation material, and the international standard ISO22391 “PE-RT Pipe System for Hot and Cold Water” has also been revised and updated. Increased the requirements for Type II PE-RT piping.

Industry association statistics show that during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, the growth rate of plastic pipe production in China will remain at around 10%. It is conservatively estimated that by 2015, the national plastic pipe production will be close to 12 million tons, and plastic pipes will be used across the country. The market share in the pipeline will exceed 60%. However, due to the lack of quality awareness, integrity awareness, brand awareness, and service awareness of individual companies, the quality of products in the market is uneven. “At present, the quality of the heat-resistant polyethylene pipe system for hot and cold water in China is generally good, especially for large companies, but there are also some small companies with poor quality awareness and actual levels,” said Wang Zhanjie.

According to reports, the implementation of the new national standard of the PE-RT pipeline is an important market segmentation of PE-RT pipeline products in China. The market classification of PE-RTI and II will make the PE-RT pipeline products in the domestic market more standardized. The new standard divides the high-end market in the original pipeline market, opening up new opportunities for pipeline manufacturers.
