1. Marble belongs to sedimentary rocks and is mainly composed of carbonate minerals. From the analysis of the geological process of marble formation, the formation of natural marbles is not directly related to radioactive materials and therefore does not have radioactive harm to the human body. According to the actual measurement data of stone material since the implementation of CB 6566 “Radioactive Nuclide Limit of Building Materials” national standards, the specific activities of radioactivity of radioactive radium-226, cesium-232, and potassium-40 in natural marble are much lower than those in standard A. Class (without restrictions) indicators are completely negligible;
2. In the technical requirements of China's stone product standard JC/T 202-2011 "Natural Marble Block" industry standard and CB/T 19766-2005 "Natural Marble Building Plate" national standard, the radionuclide specific activity has not been detected. Requirements;
3. The lack of understanding of stone classification in the society for a long time and the impact of misunderstanding on marble radiation have been included in the inspection of the customs, which has negatively affected the normal trade of marble. On December 24, 2008, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China issued an announcement on “Adjusting the entry and exit commodity list for inspection and quarantine by entry-exit inspection and quarantine agencies (2009)”, and decided that from January 1st, 2009, marble And its products (including limestone, sandstone and other natural stone products) transferred to the "Census Catalogue", and no longer implement the entry-exit inspection and quarantine supervision, that is, marble is no longer subject to mandatory radiological inspection;
4. Among the two standards involved in the application of stone engineering, there is no requirement to detect the content of marble radioactivity in the "Code for Quality Acceptance of Building Decoration Engineering" (GB50210-2001). The original “Code for Control of Indoor Environmental Pollution of Civil Building Projects” (GB50325-2001) once standardized marble and granite as stone materials, and required the detection of the radioactivity of marble, resulting in the implementation of marble acceptance standards in various projects. confusion. Objectively boosted the public's erroneous understanding of the presence of harmful radioactivity in marble. With the active efforts of the Chinese Stone Association and radiological experts, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development adopted the opinions of experts. In 2012, the organization revised the content of radioactive materials in the standard (Article 5.2.1), and it was completed on June 24, 2013. On the same day, an announcement on the partial revision of the national standard "Standards for Control of Indoor Environmental Pollution in Civil Building Projects" was issued. The newly revised standard makes it clear that marble does not require a radioactive test report. At this point, none of the above two standards of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development required radioactive inspection of marble.
