The Finnish VTT Technology Center developed a new type of flexible solar energy for decorating. Although this organic solar energy material is not very high in energy efficiency, it can be used as a decorating material and collect solar energy to supply electric power for small home appliances such as electric lights through a brand-new production process.
In addition, the mass production of the product is relatively simple and quick. In the form of a reel, up to 100 meters of organic solar energy can be produced per minute. These mass-produced solar materials have a thickness of only 0.2 mm and include electrodes and multilayer polymers capable of collecting solar energy that can adhere to the inside or outside of walls or windows. According to actual measurements, its active surface area per square meter can produce 3.2amp 10.4watts of power output.
Although this new production method has a very low manufacturing cost, there is still much room for improvement in terms of material consumption, recycling, energy harvesting, etc. Therefore, this solar energy material can only be seen in the homes of future residents.
