Aluminum-coated ACSR and ACSR differ in that their steel cores are different.
The steel core of ACSR is made of galvanized steel wire. The aluminum-clad steel wire in the aluminum-clad aluminum-cored wire is a double wire. It adopts high temperature and high pressure to continuously coat the electrical aluminum on the high-strength steel wire, so that the aluminum steel forms an approximately 8um-thick aluminum steel combined permeation layer. After the steel wire coated with aluminum layer was repeatedly drawn by the light bimetal synchronous deformation machine, aluminum and steel were deformed in the same ratio, making the aluminum steel combined with the permeation layer more uniform and firm.
What characteristics of aluminum-coated aluminum-cored steel strands relative to steel-cored aluminum stranded wires:
1, electromechanical characteristics
The aluminum-clad ACSR and ACSR have the same structural dimensions and mechanical properties, but the aluminum-clad ACSR has a unit weight that is about 5% lighter than ACSR. It can be concluded that the horizontal wind loads are the same for both, but the former's vertical load is reduced by about 5% compared to the latter.
The DC resistance of aluminum-coated steel-cored aluminum stranded wires at 20°C is about 3.2% lower than that of steel-cored aluminum-argentum wires. The guaranteed breaking strength of aluminum-coated steel-cored aluminum stranded wires is about 5.5% lower than that of steel-cored aluminum stranded wires.
2, corrosion resistance
Overhead conductors are subject to electrochemical corrosion in the atmosphere. In the ACSR, the coating on the surface of the steel core is in electrochemical contact with the aluminum wire because the plating potential is lower than that of aluminum. As a result, the plating layer is quickly eroded and the steel core is exposed to the atmosphere and corroded. In addition, after the plating layer is etched away, the steel core and the aluminum wire are in contact with each other to form an electrochemical corrosion. The potential of aluminum is lower than that of iron. As a result, the aluminum wire is corroded again.
For aluminum-clad ACSR, due to the good metallurgical bonding between the aluminum steels in the aluminum-clad steel wire, all the monofilaments in the stranded wire are in contact with the aluminum. They do not have electricity between different metals. Chemical corrosion, which can greatly reduce the corrosion rate of the wire, thereby extending its service life.
It can be said that corrosion resistance is the biggest advantage of aluminum-coated ACSR.
